As a kid, I always had a fascination with sports cars and F1 cars, basically anything that looked really cool and could go really fast. As I was not drafted into the NBA, I could not afford a high end sports car, but thanks to these awesome RC F1 sports cars I can still have a lot of fun. My family and I have had a lot of fun over the years with RC cars. Most of the ones we have had the pleasure to use tend to be more off road. But recently we got the chance to look at some of the best RC sports cars that are on the market right now. So have a look down below at these epic RC cars!
1/14 RC Ferrari F1 Car Review
The first car we are looking at is this ice cool, 1/14 Scale Ferrari La Ferrari LaFerrari Radio Remote Control Model Car. The first thing I want to talk about is the price. As of writing, you can get this for around 30 bucks, which when you consider this is an officially licensed Ferrari product is just crazy. The design of the car is awesome. You could actually display this on a desk and no one would know it is an RC car, they would think it is a high end model. The detail on this thing is incredible, right down to the interior. I was very impressed with how much detail this has, especially considering the price. It just oozes cool and it really is something that any guy would love to have.
The remote control is pretty interesting. It has a Ferrari logo and it is designed to look like a Ferrari steering wheel which is pretty cool. I will say that this car is at its best when it is on flat ground. We tried it on the grass and while it drove it was not exactly going really fast. There is some suspension on the wheels, but it is not really up to the task of rough terrain. Although to be fair this is modeled on a Ferrari so I cannot be too harsh on them for that. In all, it is very easy to drive. My youngest son had no trouble driving this around the house. The actual car requires four AA batteries and you will need a 9V one for the car. Of course the better the batteries you have the more driving time you will get. One thing that is really cool is the way the doors can open and how it has fully functioning head and break lights.
- Very affordable
- Officially licensed by Ferrari
- Looks really cool
- Very easy to drive
- Maybe a little simple for some people
- Does not have a rechargeable battery
RC Bugatti FI Car Review
Next up we have this awesome looking RC Bugatti. Wow does this RC sports car look cool or what? I love the orange and black design and if my kids did not love to drive it so much, I would happily have this on display in my office. This is modeledas closely as possible on a real Bugatti. I will admit that I am no expert in Bugatti’s, but I was blown away by the detailing they have done with this RC car. What makes it even more impressive is the fact that it is being sold for around about 30 bucks and considering the quality, that is a very reasonable amount. One thing I have read people complain about is that the wing mirrors can come off. This is actually on purpose and the idea is that if you slam the car into a wall or something they will pop off rather than snap off. Still the overall build quality of the car is nice and my son did crash this car many, many times and it was still going strong.
As far as driving goes, you are looking at a very decent top speed, especially considering it is running off 4 AA batteries. Like most other RC sports cars though, you are going to want to keep this on as flat ground as possible. We have a fair bit of grass in the backyard and while the car worked it did not go as fast as it did in the house. Steering is great and I really like the sports car style steering wheel that they have gone with. Even kids who have never used an RC car before will have no trouble getting the hang of this. One thing I have to mention is just how quiet this car is. I am kind of use to RC cars making a ton of noise, but this one is very quiet compared to some of the others we have checked out. In all this is a really cool and fun RC car and perfect if you want to get one for yourself, someone else or one of the kids and you do not want to spend a ton of money.
- Asking price is very affordable
- Has a really cool look
- Very easy to drive
- Can go surprisingly fast
- Not really suitable for rougher terrain
- Wing mirrors popping off may be annoying for some
RC Lamborghini F1 Car Review
Last, but by no means least is this awesome Lamborghini RC sports car that as of righting is actually one of the biggest sellers when it comes to RC cars on Amazon. With an official Lamborghini license, a lot of effort has clearly gone into making this RC sports car look as cool as possible. I love the dark almost wine red color and in general, this thing just has a really, really cool and sleek look to it. How can you not love the design of a Lamborghini? Anyway, this is the cheapest of all the RC sports cars we got to look at and as of writing, you can actually get this for under 20 bucks, which is a freaking steal! It makes this a perfect RC car for a little fun gift or even as a first RC car for a kid to see if this is a hobby that they would be interested in.
A top speed of around 10 mph on flat ground is what you can expect out of this. Considering only 3 AAA batteries are powering it, I think that is quite impressive. Like the other two RC sports cars we have looked at today, flat terrain is where this is at its best. It drives very well and you will have a fun time pretending you are on a racing track. My only real negative is the controller. Rather than go for a standard RC car controller or even one modeled after a sports cars steering wheel. They have gone for this rather cheap looking video game controller. Do not get me wrong, it works great and is easy to use, but it does feel kind of cheap. But at the end of the day, this is a budget priced RC sports car so I cannot be too harsh on it for that. Still, if you want to have some RC fun, but do not want to spend much money, you will have a hard time beating this.
- Looks really sleek and cool
- Drives pretty fast
- Handles like a charm
- Costs under 20 bucks!
- Controller feels a bit cheap
- Basic compared to some other RC vehicles
Things To Consider When Buying An RC F1 Sports Car
I love this style of RC car, but if an RC sports car is the kind of thing you are interested in as well. Then have a look at these things you need to consider before you spend your money on one.
Terrain:These kind of RC cars are designed to be driven on flat surfaces. You cannot say the fact they can’t handle mud, grass, and rocks is a negative because they were never designed to. So make sure that you have a nice flat area to race on before you buy an RC sports car.
The Controller: As I mentioned before one of these has a rather cheap controller. Many of the officially licensed RC sports cars will save a little money by cutting back on the controller. In all honesty, this is not a big deal, but if you do not like the idea of using a video game style controller make sure to look around for one that has a more suitable controller for you.
Power: I am not talking about the actual power of the RC car, but what is powering it. Most RC cars that are in that 20 to 50 bucks price range will run off standard batteries. It is always a good idea to look and see just how many batteries you are going to need and then get a good stockpile of them so your RC car is ready to go right away.
So What Is The Best RC F1 Sports Car?
To be honest with you all three of these were great and there was very little between them. Out of these three particular RC sports cars, I would say it boils down to if you like Ferrari, Lamborghini or Bugatti better. They all drive very similar, have similar top speeds and actually all have a similar kind of build quality. The Lamborghini does have a slightly cheaper feeling controller, but as the asking price for it is under 20 bucks. I do feel that it is the easiest to recommend out of the three of these. Still, they are all currently being sold for a fantastic price so I would recommend that you just go for whichever one you think looks the coolest.
